The NASA Earth Observatory, through a satellite time series from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite, has followed deforestation in Rondônia, western Brazil, since 2000. Below are satellite images from 2000 and 2010, where intact forest is deep green, while cleared areas are tan. Images from each year between 2000 and 2010 are available on the Earth Observatory website.
